Forced marriage In my own little world, I revel in my perfectionism; I work obsessively and take great pleasure in using men, just as they do when they call themselves sworn bachelors. The men in my life? Entertaining diversions. Nothing more. I am Sonia, and my last name could easily be “Spinster.” In my world, there is no room for error. Everything is done by the book, correctly, predictably, and according to the perfect plan. Until Makis appears in my life, as if sent by God. He doesn’t follow the rules. And me? I’ve never learned to play without an instruction manual. From the very first night, he resists, refusing to submit to my romantic intentions, and so my worldview sinks like a paper boat in the ocean. And while I—the captain of my own life—scream heart-wrenchingly for him to dive into the depths and save me, he ostentatiously enjoys the spectacle from above, chuckling and winking at me slyly.
